OLD HANDICRAFTS

Still today sheep wool and linen are important nature products. Old handicrafts are still alive in two family-run shops in Umhausen. Here you can purchase sheep wool carpets, rag rugs and authentic Ötztal linen sheets.

Artist blacksmiths in the Ötztal have still maintained old traditions. In their long history they worked metal, copper, bronze, iron and precious metals using old forging and hammering techniques.

Glass painting includes mostly the production of colored windows, glasses and vases decorated with ornaments and images.

The Köfels waterwheel was connected to the Köfels sawmill. It ranks among the biggest buildings of its kind, and is one of the most important artistic, cultural and historical attractions in Tirol.
